Draves, right, welcomes Layne Harpine as LERN\u2019s new consultant for workforce development and contract training.<\/p><\/div>\nLayne Harpine of Emerald Isles, North Carolina, has been named LERN\u2019s new consultant for workforce development and contract training. \u00a0LERN President William A. Draves made the announcement at the Senior LERN Leader meeting in Tucson last month.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are fortunate to have an executive of Layne\u2019s caliber, experience and expertise,\u201d noted Draves.\u00a0 Harpine has a background in both business and education.\u00a0 He was an executive with Mobile Oil before joining the field of higher education.\u00a0 He has experience in teaching and in administration.\u00a0 \u201cHe chose LERN instead of accepting a college presidency, so LERN members and customers will get a high level consultant and trainer in the area of workforce development, training, and contract training,\u201d says Draves.<br \/>\nHarpine succeeds Julia King Tamang, who has been LERN\u2019s most popular speaker and developed the area of contract training expertise with Greg Marsello, Vice President for Organizational Development.\u00a0 She has been with LERN for 16 years.
