New LERN Expert

LERN President William A. Draves, right, welcomes Layne Harpine as LERN’s new consultant for workforce development and contract training.

LERN President William A. Draves, right, welcomes Layne Harpine as LERN’s new consultant for workforce development and contract training.

Layne Harpine of Emerald Isles, North Carolina, has been named LERN’s new consultant for workforce development and contract training.  LERN President William A. Draves made the announcement at the Senior LERN Leader meeting in Tucson last month.
“We are fortunate to have an executive of Layne’s caliber, experience and expertise,” noted Draves.  Harpine has a background in both business and education.  He was an executive with Mobile Oil before joining the field of higher education.  He has experience in teaching and in administration.  “He chose LERN instead of accepting a college presidency, so LERN members and customers will get a high level consultant and trainer in the area of workforce development, training, and contract training,” says Draves.
Harpine succeeds Julia King Tamang, who has been LERN’s most popular speaker and developed the area of contract training expertise with Greg Marsello, Vice President for Organizational Development.  She has been with LERN for 16 years. Harpine was introduced to LERN by Greg, and is working with Greg in LERN’s consulting and training on-site services for members all across North America.
