Increase Awareness by Offering Free Demos
Offering a free sample is a proven way to generate interest in and awareness of a product. Supermarkets are aware of this, and that is why they offer samples of tasty items. Retail stores use this strategy to introduce customers to new items. This not only creates awareness, but often leads to more sales.
Free Samples are not just for the retail business, however. They are very effective for recreation programs as well. Below is an example of how West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation has taken advantage of demos to introduce potential participants to their activities. There are many variations on the free demo theme that have been employed by LERN members. Some have offered “demo days” where many instructors gather to offer demonstrations related to their classes. Others have held demo fairs at local community events, malls, or other public venmues to help increase interest and awareness.
