First Gen X run college

Ryan Purdy, President of Mid-Plains Community College, leads an all-Gen X cabinet, one of the first in the nation.

Ryan Purdy, President of Mid-Plains Community College, leads an all-Gen X cabinet, one of the first in the nation.

In this spring’s Nine Shift seminar for college senior administrators, Ryan Purdy, President of Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte, Nebraska, reported that virtually his entire cabinet of senior college administrators are Gen Xers.  It’s the first report of a college being run by Gen Xers.
Purdy, himself 36, said he does not know of another college with virtually total administrators in Gen X.  Other participants from Mid-Plains at the seminar also suggested the college is doing some things differently from other colleges with older leadership.
